3 Linux OS You Cannot Wait To Get Your Hands On In 2015

End of 2014 is approaching and it’s time to look for what’s coming in year 2015 for Linux. Well, there will be plenty of things such as Ubuntu Phone, Tizen Phone, Linux based DIY microcomputers, new Linux releases etc. Among all these, there are three beautiful Linux distributions that are slotted for a stable release in 2015. Let’s have a look at them.

3 beautiful Linux OS coming in 2015

Evolve OS

Evolve OS is ‘evolved’ from once popular and now discontinued Solus OS. Though it’s not entirely based on SolusOS as it is partly written from scratch. It will be using a forked version of PiSi package manager. It is currently in early stage of development and with beta version of Evolve OS released recently.

The most eye catching thing about Evolve OS is its default desktop environment Budgie Desktop. Budgie, which is based on GNOME 3, resembles Chrome OS and looks elegant. Though still in beta, you can install Budgie in Ubuntu for experiment sake.

Ozon OS

I bet you have heard of Numix Project. They have given us the aesthetic Numix theme that has the capability to make any desktop environment look more beautiful. No wonder Numix themes are always considered as one of the best themes for Ubuntu or for any Linux OS for that matter.

So the guys at Numix decided to move from artworks and collaborated with Nitrux to work on a Linux distribution of their own. It is named Ozon OS and it is currently in Alpha stage. The default desktop will be similar to GNOME Shell but not exactly the same. Of course, we can expect Ozon to be beautiful on the credibility of Numix artworks in the past.

Elementary OS Freya

Elementary OS has always been ‘accused’ of being inspired form OS X. I do not think that it is that bad a thing because OS X definitely has got some looks. No wonder that some users even try to make Ubuntu look like Mac OS X.

Unlike Evolve and Ozon, Elementary OS has already seen the light of the day with Elementary OS Luna and Jupiter. Unlike Ubuntu and other OS, Elementary OS does not follow a strict release schedule. Currently in beta stage, it is expected to arrive in first quarter of 2015 but there are no definite dates so far. Oh! Did I tell you the story behind Elementary OS changing its name from Isis to Freya?

When it comes to beauty in Linux, Pear OS will always be remembered. I know there could be some other Linux distributions worthy of being in this list. Care to mention your favorites? Feel free to hit the comment section.
